About me

MARTINO MOTTI

Born in Milan in 1966, Genoese of adoption, of Mantuan industrial father and Milanese mother can boast origins dating back to ancient times. The Savelli family from my mother's side, in fact, traces the ancestry in Rome and exactly, as it is written in the family tree that my grandfather had drawn up, in 1216 by Pope Honorius III, Cencio Savelli, the 177th of the church and then again with Giacomo Savelli, Pope Honorius IV, the 190th, in 1285. Before that, some sources speak of four other Popes, Benedict II, Gregory I, Eugene I and Liberius in the 352 BCE. Some ancient documents would trace the ancestry of the Savelli to the Sabine King Aventino in 850 BCE, while others even to Aeneas after escaping from Troy. The family numbered nobles of different secular and religious ranks, leaders, senators, counts and bishops, it still exists Castel Savelli in Lazio and Savelli village in Calabria, which Princess Charlotte Savelli gave to some earthquake victims. During the subsequent period the Savelli's moved to Emilia Romagna, and  joined the Zoboli family in Reggio Emilia where Palazzo Zoboli in the center can still be admired today. The noble house lost title and properties as a result of gambling addiction by the Marquis Rodolfo. In the twentieth century the family joined to the Monicelli's: my great-uncle, in fact, was the famous film director Mario who died in 2010. Always a lover of art and antiques, I like to mix the classic taste to modern contaminations.

Digital Works By Martino Motti

Since 2010, Martino Motti has been involved with art as a graphic representation: his career starts from the exploration of the sea depth of the world's most remote oceans and from the contact with the creatures that live there. In the silence and solitude of that muffled world he finds the ancestral union between man's inadequacy and the perfection of nature, the most secret unconscious resurfaces and takes light, through the liquid element, to become an image, a symbol of inner peace. The result that he pursues, respecting the shapes and colors of real living beings and natural events, reworks that uniqueness, in an attempt to block its essence in a positive and vital vision.
Deep blue & wild are my vital force...
Why: from the Rolleiflex bi-optic in 1975 to today's digital cameras, above and under water: it is not just the technology that has made me a photographer but my passion for open spaces, the sea and sailing, the magic of travel, the curiosity for the new and the determination to achieve the result.
I love photography to tell stories of yachts, sea, nature and tradition: the fate wanted me to be "Yacht Photographer" and "Digital Artist".

Vision: I have a dream! To become a global point of reference in the iconographic production in the yachting world through the development of close interpersonal relationships as a "Latin" basis of trade relations and a constant technological and artistic growth.
Mission: using modernity with its best photographic and computer technologies and a staff of people with competence in the image field (video, graphic and web) I would like to meet with speed and excellence the needs of ship owners, shipyards, brokers and collectors.
Value: Martino Motti bases its work on his commitment, enthusiasm, passion, fair play and his natural predisposition to discretion. The focus on the customers and their needs, the pursuit of excellence, the emphasis of the beauty and the spirit of innovation are the basis of his work. Over 30 years of professional photographic experience in various areas resulting in a rich and eclectic photographic "culture": a value to invest in with confidence.

Critic Review from "Satura Art Gallery" for the Book "Profili d'Artista 2014"

Photographically aimed at a marine habitat as submerged, detached, primordial locus amoenus, Martino Motti probes through it the spaces for an pristine formative, proliferation places where the single shot is a precursor of a fantastic reworking that has its fulcrum in the construction / exponential multiplication of visual patterns shaped according to the loop logic (formal), following a schematic-decorative precision at the same time inclined to provoke a lively optical destabilization. The sea - unveiled in the depths to bring to light a whole cosmos of artistically expressive subjects - is the object of an intensive reworking, necessarily indiscernible from the reinterpretative will inherent in the re-creative unfolding of the compositions conceived by Motti; which simultaneously possess the aesthetic and intellectual qualities of digitally induced geometrical research, without however shielding a declared decorative outcome oriented towards the lyrical abstraction of forms and colors. A photographic image chosen as the first starting point, the original melting pot of reminiscences and suggestions to be used as a means to suspend and sustain the whole complex artistic-artificial-natural scaffolding set up by Motti, theoretical assumptions - even before being formal - necessary to generate the rational graphics of a shell using only the whirling rotation of the original subject (Shell), as well as moving from the natural bright red of a hedgehook taken up in macro photography until the appearance of a metamorphic incandescent trail, aimed at sucking prospectively into the depths of its own infinitely chromatic vital essence (Incandescence). Now, spread out as ultra-worked and perfect tapestries in every detail, the anemones take on the characteristic ornamental aspect of elegantly elaborate arabesques, bend their innate harmony to the artificial constitution of fluid stylistic-tonal balances, or rhythm the extraordinary features of unrealistic mutant creatures.
